Paint and stain need a clean surface to grip. Dirt, chalky old paint, mildew, and pollen all get in the way, and they're hard to see until the new coat starts peeling.
Washing removes all of that. On siding and painted trim we use lower pressure and a cleaning solution, because too much pressure can force water behind the siding or gouge soft wood.
Decks and fences get a wash that lifts the gray, weathered layer off the top of the wood, so new stain can soak in.
Concrete floors and driveways can take more pressure. In garages, a clean, bare slab is also the starting point for floor coatings.
After washing, surfaces need time to dry, usually a day or two in good weather, before paint or stain goes on.
RNA Pro Painting includes washing in every exterior job and also offers power washing on its own. Call (704) 649-4940 for a free estimate.
